JUNIOR OPEN 2011
OCTOBER 22nd 2011, ABU DHABI GOLF CLUB, ABU DHABI, (UAE): The 2011 Junior Open was contested in very testing conditions on Abu Dhabi Golf Clubs National Course. Despite the windy conditions, Daniel Hendry of the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai prevailed the winner and defended his title with a score of 73 from Conor Keegan who carded a respectable score of 80. Daniel becomes the first player to win the event twice and also earns a place in the Daily Telegraph Abu Dhabi Junior Championship in November.
James Sayer from Arabian Ranches won the Net Category for 0 – 18 Course Handicap Golfers with an excellent score of 70. Rory Blincow finished second with a score of 71.
Sana Tufail of Abu Dhabi Golf Club followed up on last year’s success with a score of 78 to take the Girls Gross prize, whilst the Low Net for the girls went to Serifa D’Souza of Dubai Creek with a score of 73.
Rounding off the competition was a battle of the highest stableford points in the boy’s 2nd Division. Kyle De Laff triumphed with an outstanding score of 40 points. Aryaan Kumar of Arabian Ranches came in second place with an excellent score of 38 points.
